Straight Hair, Just for the Halle of It
Halle Berry is gorgeous, right? But she is rarely seen without her signature closely cropped hairdo. Some may wonder why such a beautiful lady keeps her hair so short, but I have a theory: She’s rubbing our faces in it! “Hey, I’m Halle Berry! My hair is an inch and a half long and I still look prettier and more feminine than you! Nyahhh!” Man, Halle, you can be so immature.
But that’s what makes it so special when she does venture out with long locks. Check out this amazing picture of her with shoulder-grazing hair and blunt cut bangs. Breathtaking! Is it a wig? Extensions? Did she spend a little time with her GHD flat irons? It’s hard to say, but one thing is for certain: Halle looks great no matter how she wears her hair.
Unfortunately, the rest of us may not be so lucky. That’s why we all need GHD flat irons in our styling arsenal. These puppies are easy to use and give you great results without sapping the natural moisture out of your hair. You can go from haggard to Halle in just a few minutes. Of course, the flawless face and body are up to you…
Making a Statement with My Flat Iron
I think one of the best things about GHD flat irons is that they come in so many different styles and colors. I mean, of course everyone loves GHD flat irons because they really get the job done without damaging your hair, not to mention the fact that they heat up fast and are easy to use, but in addition to all of that I really appreciate the fact that they give you an opportunity to make a statement with your choice of flat iron.
Case in point: How excited was I to find this amazing purple model!? It’s so pretty! Way prettier than a simple hair styling tool has any right to be. I love the color and the swirly pattern, and I adore how absolutely everything - from the cord to the plates themselves - is purple! Nice touch, GHD. You should see the looks on people’s faces when I whip this thing out! Everyone is always jealous and wants to know where I got it right away. Purple has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember, so it’s nice that even my flat iron can be incorporated into my chosen color scheme.
If you could have a flat iron in any color imaginable, what would you choose? If you can dream it, GHD probably makes it!
Do Celebs Prefer GHD Flat Irons?
There are tons of celebrities with sexy straight hair, but I literally gasped out loud when I saw this picture of Natalie Portman - she has my dream hair! Shoulder-length, perfectly straight, a rich chestnut brown and sideswept bangs…sigh. I’m not sure how Natalie (or her stylist) achieved this perfection, but I would bet that a flat iron played its part. I mean, look at that gorgeous straightness! You just can’t have hair that straight without using a hot iron.
I think GHD flat irons are the best because they deliver awesome results without damaging your hair. Sure, they cost a little bit more than some brands, but the investment is well worth it if you’re serious about looking great. I would be willing to bet that tons of celebrities use GHD flat irons to get their hair absolutely perfect and ready for the cameras! Even if the paparazzi aren’t going to start following you around any time soon, it’s a good idea to purchase an iron that won’t dry or burn your hair.
If you need more information about flat irons, try asking your stylist. He or she will definitely know which brand and model is best suited to your hair type and your straightening needs. Otherwise, you can read reviews online and make a decision based on that. Good luck!
Flat Irons: The Best Method for Straightening

Flat irons offer an easy, safe way to straighten hair.
It may sound kind of silly, but the truth is that having beautiful straight hair has been one of my lifelong dreams. There’s just nothing prettier than long, shiny hair swinging around and catching the light. You just can’t duplicate it with curly hair like the kind I was born with! Luckily, my mom introduced me to the wonders of GHD flat irons when I was a freshman in high school, and I haven’t looked back since! I know there are lots of different ways to straighten your hair, but here are a few of the reasons why I think GHD flat irons are your best bet:
- Easy to use. You don’t have to go to a salon or enlist a friend to help, the way you do with a lot of chemical straighteners. All you have to do is plug it in, heat it up, and run it through small sections of your hair. Ta-da, you have straight hair that should last the rest of the day!
- Safe. Chemical straighteners can burn your scalp, cause rashes or just dry out your natural hair. But heat styling is relatively non-invasive, especially if you use a thermal protectant beforehand and give your locks a break from the heat every now and then.
- Affordable. A good GHD flat iron isn’t cheap, but considering how much you’ll probably end up using it, it’s actually a very cost-effective investment.
- Travels well. Next time you’re getting ready to hit the road, toss your flat iron into your suitcase or bag and you can have straight hair no matter where you are!
Thank goodness for my best friend and my GHD flat iron!

With my GHD flat irons I can look like my style icon, Drew Barrymore, everyday!
My best friend is in cosmetology school and she is going to be such an amazing stylist. She has been doing my hair since we were in high school - any big event she would help me style my hair. Prom, first dates, job interviews - you name it, she has been there for me. The problem is that if I don’t have her around, I never know how to make my hair look good. My hair is wavy and it doesn’t curl “pretty.” I can’t just let it air dry because then it looks frizzy and horrible. When I do blow it dry, I have to do something else to straighten it or curl it because it does not look good in the “in-between” world. And now I’m really in trouble because I just got a job three hours away from where we live and I am moving….which means I can’t have my best friend there for me to help me with my hair! I really was distraught about this until she showed up with my moving gift: a GHD flat iron. She had just discovered them in school and she had fallen in love. She also knew GHD flat irons would be the perfect way for me to start doing my hair on my own. Having my new flat iron is like having her with me, so it was a perfect gift. It doesn’t tell jokes and make me laugh like she does….but that is what phones are for.
GHD Flat Irons: Stylish & Functional

GHD flat irons are the perfect combo of style and functionality.
When it comes to the kinds of tools I use to style my hair, I’m totally monogamous with GHD. In fact, GHD flat irons are probably number one on my list of items that I would have to have with me on a desert island! My hair just looks a mess without my flat iron - it’s not pretty, trust me. But with my trusty GHD flat iron in tow, I can do amazing things with my hair! I’ve actually been mistaken for Jennifer Aniston a couple of times, just because it’s so easy to give myself perfectly sleek, straight, Aniston-esque hair. Everytime I go in for a haircut, my stylist is always really impressed by how little heat damage I have to my hair, considering I use my flat iron at least 3 or 4 days out of the week. That’s because GHD uses ceramic plates that protect the hair and seal the cuticle for a nice, healthy shine. I just got this limited edition straightener, which comes with a heat-resistant travel pouch in a super fierce leopard print. Love it! It’s almost too pretty to use! I think GHD flat irons are the perfect example of style meeting function, and everyone should have one in their styling arsenal.
Lea Michele's hair with GHD flat irons
Did anyone see Glee’s Lea Michele on the red carpet at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards the other day? She looked amazing in that gorgeous deep green dress and her hair was absolutely to die for. Lea decided to match a dress fit for a goddess by leaving her hair down in long, wavy, curls. Personally, I love this style as its fit for a formal occasion but it doesn’t look too done up either like a lot of Hollywood hair does.
Bet you did
n’t know that you can get your hair to look like that without the use of a curling iron. In fact, with GHD flat irons you can get hair just like Lea Michele’s. I hate having a bunch of hair products and devices laying around, but with my GHD I can get both straight hair and wavy hair.
All I really do is stick my hair up and then pull it down in chunks. I’ll brush out the piece, and put a little bit of product in it; it doesn’t matter if its some kind of moose or hair spray as long as its sticky. Then I’ll use my GHD flat iron and create some pretty but not too put together waves. I like when my hair looks a little reckless; it gives it personality. The product will give make it stay and the GHD will give you the waves, just like Lea’s
Sigh, doesn’t she look pretty. The award season is just barely underway though, with the Grammys right around the corner and with the Golden Globes, Oscars, etc all still to come. I love Lea and the rest of the Glee cast so I’ll definitely be watching the red carpet to see what she she comes up with next.
Styling Tips for GHD Flat Irons
When using a flat iron you do not have to limit yourself to only creating straight styles. Using a professional tool, like a GHD flat iron, allows you to create any hairstyle you want - from straight to wavy to curly. The key to creating a variety of styles is not being afraid to experiment. Your GHD flat iron can take your hair places but you need to be willing to invest the time to play with it and see the possibilities. Here are a few tips to get you on the right track:
- Divide your hair into sections. When you are styling your hair, it is much more manageable to do it one small section at a time. Use clips or bobby pins to hold back the section of hair you are not working on. An effective way is to work from under to outer. Styling the under layers of your hair first means that the top layers will remain perfectly coiffed.
- Within the sections you are working on, divide your hair further into one to two inch sections to use your GHD flat iron on at a time. This allows concentrated styling ability. This is especially important when creating a wavy or curly style.
- If you are striving to curl your hair with your flat iron, you can wrap your one inch section around the barrel of your GHD, just as you would with curling iron. The flat iron will give your hair a much more natural looking curl, like Lauren Conrad.
Creating Perfect Waves Like Blair Waldorf's With my Flat Iron
I am a huge Gossip Girl fan. I loved the books, so when they started the TV series I was excited but a little bit wary. What if they didn’t portray the characters like I had imagined them? Needless to say, my worries soon turned into delight because they did such a good casting job. My favorite character, hands down, is Blair Waldorf. Leighton Meester deliciously portrays the evil side of her character to a point where you just can’t hate her. And how can you hate her when she has such great hair?
It’s silly but it’s true. She single handedly sparked a headband revolution. They are everywhere in stores these days, thanks to Blair Waldorf. I personally like her hair the best when it is in loose waves. It is a style that I can wear on an average day and still feel put together but not too made up. I have a GHD flat iron and it has been instrumental in creating this look. The loose but not too-perfect waves are easier to style with a flat iron than a curling iron. A curling iron makes my hair look too “Shirley Temple.” I would rather look like bad girl Blair Waldorf any day of the week!
Stealing Rihanna's Hairstyle
Rihanna has certainly had a year of ups and downs. One of the things that has remained constant is her ever changing hairstyles. When she first cut off all of her hair into that perfect short, shaggy bob, I was sold. I had to try the look myself. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I also love her faux hawks and changing hair colors and even her buzz cuts. But there is something about the sleekness of her first shaggy bob that looks effortless and sexy that I want to replicate.
Of course, my hair is wavy so creating that sleek look is certainly not effortless. It is almost effortless though, since I have a GHD flat iron. This professional styling iron has made all the difference. When I went to get the haircut, my stylist warned me that replicating Rihanna’s hair would take a bit of work but that it wouldn’t be such a chore if I had the right tools. He uses a GHD flat iron after cutting my hair and so I decided that would probably be the best for me to use too. I look like I’ve just stepped out of a salon every time I style my hair. Who knows? Maybe I’ll try the faux hawk next!
Protect Hair When Flat Ironing
The thing I like most about GHD flat irons is how my hair looks naturally pin straight when I use mine. I am not sure about the technology GHD uses but it is worth every penny. I have never experienced such consistent and natural results with any other flat iron. I try not to use it everyday because I do not want to risk heat damage and I make sure that every time I do use it I protect my hair with a thermal spray. My sister fried her hair growing up, flat ironing everyday. Sure, she used a cheap iron but still, I am not taking any chances. I want my hair to stay healthy and sleek looking for as long as possible!
Drew Barrymore Tames Her Wild Hair
Drew Barrymore has always been known as a “wild child,” and she usually has the hair to match, from her punky blonde pixie cut (complete with dark roots) in the mid-’90s to her current propensity for big, poufy hairstyles - see the Grey Gardens premiere pix if you don’t know what I’m talking about! But I think the sleek, straight style that Drew is rocking in this picture is her best look yet. She comes across as gorgeous and totally grown up, and the look can be yours with the help of GHD flat irons and a just a few minutes of your time. After making sure your hair is completely dry, divide hair into sections for straightening. Remember, GHD flat irons come in many sizes, from those with small plates - best for short hair - to those with larger plates, for long hair. Drew probably used a standard 1″ flat iron here. Never attempt to flat iron sections of hair that are too large; it will take forever, and may damage your hair. After straightening, part hair down the middle like Drew to steal her updated hippie chic hairdo. Easy and beautiful!
Curling with My Flat Iron?!
I just learned how to do this, and I’m so excited that I just had to share! Okay, so we all know that a GHD flat iron is perfect for giving you straight, beautiful hair without that ugly dry frizziness that a poorly made flat iron can produce. But GHD flat irons are also great for making big, sexy waves and loose curls! It sounds kind of bizarre to curl your hair with a flat iron, but it really works.
The trick is to clamp a small section of hair in the iron, near the scalp, and then hold it vertically while twisting in the direction you want the curl to go. Pull the iron gently through your hair while twisting and release when you get to the end. Bam! Pretty curls, courtesy of your trusty GHD flat irons. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t get discouraged; just keep trying. It took me more than one attempt at first, but now I’m pretty good at it! You’ll love the way it looks, and it’s so cool that you don’t have to buy a separate curling iron.
Do Flat Irons Damage Your Hair?
I’ve been in the habit of straightening my hair almost everyday since I was thirteen years old, which means I’ve been doing it for over 10 years now! But lately I’ve been concerned that all this cumulative heat damage could end up really taking its toll on my hair. I don’t want to end up prematurely bald! So I decided to do a little detective work in order to find out whether a farouk flat iron are really bad for your hair.
The conclusion I came to was this: It depends on the type of flat iron you use, and how you use it. I always use GHD flat irons, which is great because they make high quality ceramic irons that seal the moisture into the hair shaft as opposed to sucking it out and/or frying your hair. I recommend GHD flat irons to all of my friends who ask my opinion on what type of flat iron to use. Never use an iron with a metal plate - you’ll just end up cooking your hair!
Another important thing to keep in mind is to never, ever flat iron wet hair, unless you have one of the specially made wet-to-dry GHD flat irons. You’ll just end up with a frizzy, dried out mop of hair! You should also take occasional breaks from straightening your hair, which I always do on the weekends. So I guess I’m in the clear! Woo hoo!
Alicia Keys' Straight Hair Secrets

Alicia Keys and her stunning straight hair.
Alicia Keys always looks beautiful no matter how she styles her hair - and she does love to experiment. In fact, her unpredictable hairdos have set off a bit of a debate among fans as to whether the songstress looks better with curly or straight hair. Personally, I prefer Alicia’s straight look, which is probably not surprisingly, given my love of GHD flat irons! I used my flat iron all the time, and sing the praises of GHD flat irons in particular to anyone who will listen. I don’t know what kind of flat iron Alicia uses, but it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that she’s a fellow fan of GHD flat irons! They’re excellent for African American hair. And, yes, African American women can achieve straight hair without
chemicals, through flat ironing alone - just ask Michelle Obama! But that’s another story. Right now we’re focusing on Alicia! I adore her center-parted, super sexy look at left, but I also love how pretty and elegant she looks with the voluminous ‘do at right. Looks like Alicia (or her hair stylist) added a little volume at the roots before sweeping everything back and securing it with a wide black headband. The loose waves in her otherwise straight hair were probably made with a flat iron as well, by holding the iron vertically and twisting it through the hair. How do you prefer Alicia’s hair? Straight, curly…either way, she looks amazing!
Get Rock and Roll Hair Like Taylor Momsen
If you want to get the rock and roll style of Taylor Momsen, aka Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl, you gotta start with the hair. Her shaggy bob sets the stage for all kinds of edgy hairstyles and if you want to get the look right, you need to start with the right tools. You need professional curling irons and GHD flat irons are the perfect kind. With high heat and ceramic plates, you can style your hair with less damage. To get Taylor’s look you can flat iron hair all over for a piecey and sleek hairstyle. You can also choose to flat iron just your bangs and let the rest of the hair go curly to keep it really funky. As long as you have the right tools, you can rock your hair all night long.
My Favorite Flat Iron
What’s the best flat iron you’ve ever used? For me, the answer is my GHD 1/2″ Mini Styling Iron, hands down! GHD flat irons come in so many different sizes and styles, but this one is the best. First of all, its small size makes it super portable. It also has universal voltage capabilities, which means that you can bring it anywhere in the world and it will work! I brought this with me when I traveled to Europe a few months ago, and it was such a relief not to have to worry about adapters - and my hair looked great every single day of my vacation! The half-inch plates are perfect for my chin-length hair, and the iron - like all GHD flat irons - heats up super quickly. Best of all (for me, at least, since I’m super forgetful…), it features an intelligent sleep mode, which automatically shuts the iron off if it’s left unattended for more than half an hour. It’s a lifesaver! I refuse to go anywhere without this flat iron.
Victoria Beckham's "Posh" Hair

Victoria Beckham's sleek, straight hair is very "posh."
Victoria Beckham, a.k.a. Posh Spice, is known for many things: Her former career as a pop star, her marriage to soccer god David Beckham, her fearless fashion sense - and, of course, fabulous hair. Posh wouldn’t be caught dead with curly, frizzy hair, and whether she wears it long, short, or in a fierce asymmetrical bob, Mrs. Beckham is obviously a fan of the flat iron. GHD flat irons are some of the best on the market; if you’re looking to create that high-class yet edgy Posh hair look for yourself, you would do well to invest in one. While some straighteners might fry your hair, GHD flat irons leave it smoother and softer than before - something that Victoria herself would surely applaud! To duplicate the style pictured here, begin by asking your stylist for a razor-cut bob that hits slightly below the chin in the front and tapers close to the neck in the back. Then, use your GHD flat irons to smooth and straighten your hair for a perfect, glossy finish. Add some shine serum for a glass-like sheen. Posh would be proud!
